March 2007

Dear Colleagues:

It is my great pleasure to introduce to you the graduating class of our Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. They have been taught by some of the finest teachers in this country and abroad. My colleagues and I believe that the training of actors should be rigorous and diverse. This exceptional class has been exposed to a wide range of methodologies, out of which they have developed their performance craft. They have trained with internationally renown artists such as Roman Kozak, the SITI Company, Marcus Stern, Scott Zigler and myself, among others, as well as worked on A.R.T. and Institute stages, in supporting and leading roles. They have come through the fire of two years of work in Cambridge and Moscow fully prepared to bring their talent to a variety of challenges. I hope you will welcome them warmly as they newest members of the performing community.

Sincerely,

Robert Woodruff
Artistic Director

Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to introduce to you the ART/MXAT Institute for Advanced Theatre Training class of 2007. It is the mission of the Institute to train students who are prepared to perform in the full range of work that has historically been presented by the American Repertory Theatre. From their grounding in the work of Stanislavsky at the Moscow Art Theatre, to their training with the Saratoga International Theatre Institute, to their recent performances in work by such visionary directors as Robert Woodruff, Marcus Stern, and Arthur Nauzyciel, we believe you will find in them a level of talent, versatility, and professionalism that reflects this mission. They have been encouraged to embrace working in a diverse range of media, styles, and directorial approaches. We think you will find these actors ready for every challenge that the profession is prepared to offer them.
